Digital Hubs Devices Handler Job Description and Person Specification

Introduction:


This role will be on a self-employed basis; therefore, you will be required to submit invoices monthly stating dates and times worked and confirming the agreed hourly rate.

Purpose of Job

To co-ordinate the daily set-up, operation and open-accessibility of a community-based, digital inclusion learning hub comprising three linked venues across Halton (two in Runcorn and one in Widnes), including the essential allocation and setting-up of multiple digital learning devices for usage at all ability levels. You will be responsible for transferring laptops, tablets, printers, IT peripherals (including data), projectors and screens with all the required cabling and power accessories between locations, and to set up multiple workstations at all venues, as required and designated (via venue/room plan) by Project Manager or an Open 360 Director

Major Tasks & Job Activities

  • Work with the Project Manager and Directors to ensure (and continuously improve) the set-up of all workstations in order to facilitate a comfortable learning environment for all digital hub users.
  • Ensure that all devices and equipment are handled correctly and safeguarded whilst in transit between the digital hubs.
  • Ensure that all digital equipment are checked physically on a regular basis and be vigilant to any external damage on all devices, and report accordingly any damage to the Project Manager
  • Build strong working relationships with your operational team and external stakeholders (Community Centre Managers, Site Managers, Security Officers and equivalent), maintaining a high level of communication with the Project Manager and Open 360 Directors
  • Attend and participate in venue planning meetings, when required..
  • At all times ensure that safe working practices are adopted in compliance with Open 360’s Health and Safety procedures.
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to equality of opportunity and treatment and comply with Open 360’s Policy and Procedures and relevant legislation relating to Equality and Diversity.
  • To be aware of any Health and Safety, disability, equality or welfare issues, and raise any concerns with Open 360 Project Manager.
Person Specification

  • Excellent time management skills to plan routes and utilise resources to meet venue setup deadlines and workload.
  • Experience of dealing with people/organisations in a courteous, collaborative and professional manner.
  • Experience of working in a team environment
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and work to timescales.
  • Personal direct experience working with vulnerable adults and being around disadvantaged people and /or knowledge of disability and disability issues.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records of mileage and timesheets
  • Ability to use your initiative and make decisions under pressure.
  • Experience of working within the community sector
  • IT Literate conversant with desktops, Microsoft Office suite, Google Docs, practical tools such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom platform and Google Meet applications.
  • Access to a vehicle for the role travelling in between Runcorn and Widnes venues two days a week or as arranged mutually with the Project Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Must have a full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Proven understanding, interest, enthusiasm and passion in laptops, tablets, printers, IT peripherals, projectors and screens.
  • You need a ‘digital mindset’, i.e., be enthusiastic and caring about the digital devices.
  • Build strong working relationships with your operational team and external stakeholders (Community Centre Managers, Site Managers, Security Officers and equivalent), maintaining a high level of communication with the Project Manager and Open 360 Directors
  • Willing to undertake relevant training
  • Expectation is that Digital Hubs Devices Handler, Project Manager, Liaison Officer/Co-ordinator, Tutors, Trainers, Coaches, Volunteers, Participants and Learners Mentors will, through discussion with the Directors, have an understanding of Open 360’s key policies and procedures and what quality assurance measures will operate in relation to their activities. Have knowledge of how to be inclusive and non-discriminatory in their work and ability to analyse and assess Participants and Learners contributions in sessions and workshops
